About the event

Holi is more than colour. It is laughter carried across generations, hands dipped together, stories told in passing, and the permission to be joyful.

This workshop is designed as a calm, thoughtful Holi experience where families create side by side, using colour, texture, and simple materials. No rushing. No spectacle. Just shared making.

Over one relaxed morning, participants will explore Holi through guided art and craft activities that celebrate spring, renewal, and togetherness.

Everything is hands-on, age-inclusive, and gently facilitated.

No prior art experience is required.

Why an Intergenerational Holi Workshop?

For many children, Holi has become loud, rushed, or overwhelming. For many elders, the quieter rituals of Holi live only in memory.

This workshop brings those worlds together.

Children bring playfulness.Elders bring context. Adults bring presence.

The activities are intentionally simple, so the real richness comes from conversation, collaboration, and time spent together.

What We’ll Be Making

Holi Colour Explorations

Guided colour play using safe paints and tools to explore layering, mixing, and movement, without mess or overwhelm.

Festival Texture Collage

“My Holi” Portrait or Panel

A personal artwork where participants interpret Holi through colour, feeling, and imagination.

Collaborative Family Artwork

A shared piece created together, designed to reflect connection rather than perfection.

All artworks are designed to be taken home and displayed.

All materials will be provided.

About the Facilitator

The workshop is facilitated by Aparajitha Vaasudev, an illustrator, designer, and educator whose work explores Indian culture, storytelling, and community-based art practices.

Her experience includes:

  • Illustrating children’s books rooted in Indian mythology and tradition

  • Designing art experiences for children, families, and elders

  • Facilitating calm, inclusive workshops that prioritise process over performance

Her workshops are not about producing “good art.” They are about creating meaningful experiences through making.

This is a shared space, not a classroom.

Languages: English (primary), with support in Kannada, Tamil, and Hindi as needed.
